Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS)
As a PRSS, you will function as a role model to peers by exhibiting competency in personal recovery and using coping skills. A PRSS is expected to be active in a recovery-based program. PRSS may occasionally be required to work flexible hours to provide necessary services for patients, including facilitating group(s) and answering phone calls outside of normal work hours. The PRSS reports directly to the assigned Administrative Supervisor for ongoing clinical support.
PRSS Role and Responsibilities
Meet with patients face to face and be available Monday through Friday to provide the best services possible.
Spend 50% of paid work week providing direct care services.
Meet with patients in an individual/group setting to help them create personal goals and plans for recovery.
Provide patients with the skills, strengths, support, and resources to aid them in achieving the goals they created for their recovery.
Encourage and assist patients in setting up, attending, and sustaining self-help groups.
Share their own experiences, what skills, strengths, supports, and resources they use, and how that directed their recovery.
Provide referrals, links, and advocacy when needed.
Complete initial intakes with new patients.
Administer and observe required drug testing on patients as needed.
Provide phone call follow-ups to patients who have missed any scheduled appointments.
Attend scheduled administrative and clinical supervisor meetings.
Attend scheduled meetings with clinical staff and PRSS staff.
Professionally represent the agency in the office and the community, including on social media.
Engage with other duties as assigned.
PRSS Competencies
Demonstrate empathy and desire to work with those in a trauma-informed manner
Maintain knowledge of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders by attending various trainings
Document all services, billable or non billable, within a week of the service
Provide adequate and truthful information in all documentation
Maintain certifications by attending trainings and obtaining CEUs
Provide HR with updated training and certification certificates
Effective oral and written communication skills
Be organized, proactive, independent worker, and a self-starter to juggle multiple tasks/deadlines
Complete an accurate timesheet to reflect the hours at work or at a work event
Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures
Case Manager II (CMII)
A Case Manager II provides services to help patients with educational and professional services to develop and maintain a recovery plan and lifestyle based on the patient’s mental, emotional, physical, and social needs. A CMII may occasionally be required to work flexible hours to provide necessary patient services. The CMII reports directly to their assigned direct Supervisor.
CMII Role and Responsibilities
Meet with patients face to face and be available Monday through Friday to provide the best services possible for that individual patient based on their individualized treatment plan.
Spend 50% of paid work week providing direct care services.
Meet with patients in an individual/group setting to help them create personal goals and plans for recovery.
Complete appropriate case management screenings required before the clinical assessment (i.e., Case Management Needs Assessment, Gambling screening, Tobacco screening, etc.)
Work with patients to complete the TCU Drug Screen (TCUDS) and American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Level of Care Screen to determine treatment levels and to help get patients into inpatient treatment,
Engage in phone calls to inpatient facilities to check for bed availability for qualifying patient referrals, connecting with the Chess Health app, assisting patients in filling out Inpatient paperwork, and following up with patients daily to see if they have received a call from an inpatient facility.
Complete ORAS screening for all new Drug Court patients as our Drug Court funding contract requires.
Monitor patients as they implement case management treatment plan goals and objectives into their recovery plan.
Assist eligible patients in signing up with Medicaid insurance, follow up with each patient to ensure the process was completed, and determine if they need help with any other insurance-based needs (doctor appointments, claim reimbursements, etc.).
Refer, link, and advocate patients for community resources as needed.
