Recovery from addiction is not only possible, but expected. Gateway recognizes that addiction is a chronic, relapsing condition. The need for treatment extends beyond the person who is active in their addiction, to their families and friends as well.
Each person is assessed as to their strengths and needs. These may in part be based on gender, client’s choices, cultural identity, or special concerns such as childhood and adult trauma, domestic violence, economics and family issues. This enables us to provide services individualized for each person, and increase their opportunity for success.
Gateway recognizes that relapse may be a part of someone’s recovery process, and that this is not necessarily a sign of treatment failure. Gateway's approach includes helping clients recognize their individual triggers for relapse, and planning for different choices.
Gateway offers recovery to the families as well. An intricate part of a client’s recovery includes the family’s involvement. This increases the person’s success rate, but also allows families to begin healing from the damages and hurts left in the wake of addiction.
