Trainings on Prevention
The Area Prevention Resource Center (APRC) staff is trained in various topics that they can share with parent groups, civic groups, business groups, professional development groups and youth groups. Below are listed descriptions of the APRC trainings and their target groups or groups who might be interested in learning more about the topic:
Color Your Personality
In this fun “edutaining” workshop, people learn more about their own personality and how it clashes or blends with the other personalities they work and live with. Want your co-workers to get along and understand each other more? Want to know why your students act the way they do? Want a good getting-to-know-you activity for a new team or group that is forming? This is the perfect workshop. Target: work groups, church groups, youth groups, civic groups, retreat groups. Good for all aged 12 and over. Quick version can be done in 1 hour. Best if given 1 ½ hours.
Bridge-Building
Trying to get across to a group that working together as a team works much better than working individually? This interactive workshop helps individuals see what impossible things can be accomplished when people work together. This activity can also show how the colors can work together if the group has already done “Color Your Personality.” Target: same as “Color Your Personality” Works well with ages 10 and up. (Usually 1 ¼ hours) Will be longer for groups 12 and under.
Responsible Beverage Sales and Service (RBSS)
This training is for anyone who sells alcoholic beverages including 3.2 beer. Companies can come to the Prevention Center for training or we will come to you. This training will help your employees identify the identification cards of legal and illegal drinkers and help them understand why it is important to check the identification of all who buy alcohol.
FaithPartners
Jan Tipton is a Trainer of Trainers for this initiative. The FaithPartner Program assists your faith community in recognizing signs and symptoms of substance use, abuse and dependency in individuals and families. Once identified, those trained will have the skills and abilities to provide a referral to a treatment or education setting for their congregation member.
