Healthy Living Program Consultant

The position of Healthy Living Consultant is a community liaison for the Healthy Living Program (HLP). The consultant will be actively engaged in passing healthy living / wellness policies with one or more community sectors such as Schools, City and County Government, Business’ and Community Institutions and Organizations. Other responsibilities may include coordinating events, activities and community/county partnerships. In addition the Consultant will be serving as the community/county resource for Tobacco Control, Physical Activity and Nutrition policy initiatives under the Healthy Living Program. This position requires the individual to be employed full-time. This position reports to the Healthy Living Program Team Lead.
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in communications, public relations, marketing, business administration or related fields. Demonstrated programmatic experience in public or community mobilization, prospecting clients, or related areas is preferred.
Substitutions for the educational and position requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
POSITION ACTIVITIES AND DUTIES:
Work with community sectors as assigned to adopt, implement and support HLP wellness policies within the organization.
Work with new and existing local, county-wide and state-wide collaborative partnerships.
Will work with local and state data to support and promote HLP wellness policies, including entering and submitting required data.
Will work with community coalitions in supporting community and county-wide wellness efforts.
Attend, participate, and provide trainings for stakeholders and decision makers, e.g. board meetings, city commission meetings; educate and advocate for policy change within the organization.
Develops timely grant reports, collects data and maintains data on the grant program.
Complies with all program, financial and evaluation guidelines and requirements of the grant.
Participates in the strategic planning process and meetings involving the coalition and its partners.
Attends all conferences, trainings and other meetings required by the grant.
Participates in all grant-related assessments, data collection and evaluation activities.
Works with technical assistance providers and the external evaluator to facilitate fulfillment of grant
requirements, effective implementation of programs, and appropriate use of funds.

Travel is required.
Be able to/willing to work with organizations to plan and manage community-based programs.
Technical skills and proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and
Publisher) and surfing the Internet for research and education resources are necessary.
Skill in developing and delivering oral presentations, negotiations tactics and closing abilities
Ability to communicate and engage with individuals and organizations orally and in writing, using existing tools, data and resources to assist in HLP wellness efforts.
Must be willing to be a team player and work collaboratively with existing staff, coalitions and community agencies.
Must be organized, proactive, work independently and be a self-starter; able to juggle numerous deadlines
and various tasks.
